ABOUT

UAA completed the West Kelowna Library, located within a joint venture project with the West Kelowna City Hall, designed alongside base building architect JDa.

Located on the lower level, the Library builds upon a strong sense of place, fostering connections to the outdoors by incorporating expansive views of the Okanagan landscape and thoughtfully chosen materials. Materiality was closely considered, including evaluating the acoustic needs of the space, integrating wood finishes, using a natural colour palette, and highlighting the mass timber structure.

The library is a collaborative community-oriented space, designed to meet the changing community needs. It includes multi-purpose rooms, a community living room, Atrium Lounge, youth area, study zone, and children's space, which has an interactive play wall, flexible play space and a contiguous program room/makers space.
