ABOUT

Opening in fall 2021, the Museum of North Vancouver is an open and accessible gathering place and forum for discussion and connection as well as a place that showcases North Vancouver's historical legacy through exhibits, discourse and events. Multi-function flexible spaces provide places for community connectivity, learning as well as opportunities for earning revenue through events, catering and rentals. UAA worked with the Museum to define the Vision, Program and design of the new facility.

The new Museum is located in the podium level of Promenade at the Quay, a mixed-use development located just north of Lonsdale Quay on the North Vancouver Waterfront. This location, in the heart of Lower Lonsdale, forms a cultural precinct with new Polygon Gallery connected to waterfront, sea bus, market and other public amenities, creating a zone of creativity and culture, enhancing tourism, educating and informing all residents, and establishing a cultural gathering place at the heart of the community.

The Museum experience starts in the Lobby, where it is anchored by the Twin Sisters – a commissioned art by North Vancouver Indigenous Artist, Wade Baker; and a restored street car. Moving up into Museum, the visitor enters the Community Hub – a wood lined flexible space that drawing inspiration from the mountains. The Visitor routes continues through the Temporary Gallery, a Class A space for traveling exhibits, and culminates in the Permanent Exhibit area.
