ABOUT

Urban Arts was retained to prepare a new Master Plan for the Greater Victoria Public Library for the next 15 years. The GVPL serves more than 350,000 residents in 10 municipalities with 12 branches.
The process included a review of all branches to determine which facilities are in greatest need of renewal or replacement given their physical condition and their ability to meet future needs. Community demographics and growth, library trends and alternate service delivery options were evaluated. A vision and program was
developed for central, district and community branches to strenghthen the network as a whole and allow them to better meet the needs of the community.
The team prepared a Master Plan that itemized growth, expansion, renewal required to meet the Greater Victoria community’s needs during a 5-, 10- and 15-year time horizon.
